The C. Q. Yee Hop Foundation is a Hawai‘i-based private family foundation established in 2021 by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of businessman and community leader C.

Q. Yee Hop. A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it promotes positive social change by supporting projects and programs that improve the lives of people in Hawai‘i and carry forward Yee Hop’s legacy.

Its grantmaking focuses especially on Chinese arts, culture, history and language; conservation and biodiversity; democratic values; and education. The foundation invites eligible organizations to apply for funding through its grant application process and shares information about application deadlines and previous grantees. Past recipients include cultural and educational organizations, community groups, conservation initiatives, schools, and social-service nonprofits across Hawai‘i.

Yee Hop, who arrived in Hawai‘i from China in 1886, built businesses in fields including food, hospitality, ranching, and real estate, and supported Chinese-language newspapers and schools. Today, his descendants guide the foundation’s work through its board of directors
