The Cracker Storytelling Festival is a community event celebrating oral storytelling and Florida’s cultural heritage. Organized by the festival committee, its 2019 program marked the festival’s 31st year and brought together a select group of storytellers at Homeland Heritage Park in Homeland, Florida. The event ran December 4–6, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and welcomed both school groups and the general public.
The festival’s performances featured a wide range of styles, including Florida history, Cajun and Native American stories, humorous folktales, personal narratives, children’s stories, poetry, live music, and participatory storytelling. Presenters included Florida storytellers and performers from diverse cultural and artistic backgrounds. The program was designed for listeners of all ages and aligned with school curricula across grade levels, offering an engaging way to learn through stories. Admission in 2019 was $6 for adults and $4 for students, payable at the gate by cash or check. Food vendors and craft sellers were also part of the event.
