CrackSense is revolutionizing agriculture by changing the game for farmers and growers. With their lean multi-actor approach, they collaborate with 5 research institutes and universities, 5 farmers associations and organizations, 3 technology/agritech SMEs, 1 business association, and 1 policy advisor. This extensive network allows them to develop tailor-made solutions that reduce 1/2 of the yield losses due to cracking, resulting in a 50% higher financial gain for farmers and growers.

CrackSense utilizes real-time sensor data and the most sophisticated data and real-time sensor technologies. They work with proximal, remote, and satellite sensing to collect data and enable monitoring of fruit cracking, estimation of yield loss, and assessment of cracking incidence risk. Their in-depth research, experiments, and piloting activities span across 4 types of fruits in 5 different climatic regions on 2 continents.

The project objectives include upscaling sensing technologies, creating agri-environmental datasets, developing models and SDSSs, and disseminating and communicating CrackSense results. With high throughput real-time monitoring and prediction of fruit cracking, CrackSense is paving the way for a more efficient and profitable agriculture industry.
