Craftspace

Craftspace is a Birmingham-based educational charity that develops people, ideas and opportunities through contemporary craft. Its work makes craft accessible and connects artists, makers and communities through exhibitions, projects, resources and events, with a focus on the Midlands and diverse experiences of making.

The organisation offers opportunities for young people to develop artistic skills and explore what it is like to work as an artist, as well as projects highlighting makers influenced by migration. Visitors can discover contemporary craft through exhibitions and virtual tours, including Made in the Middle, and learn about initiatives such as Shelanu, which supports migrant and refugee women.

Craftspace also sells artist-guided Workshop-in-a-Box kits in paper craft, off-loom weaving, and collage, mark-making and stitch. Its shop features craft and jewellery, brooch-making kits, exhibition catalogues and other creative products. Alongside these activities, Craftspace invites public support through donations and fundraising, helping sustain access to craft. Based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the charity also shares events, artist opportunities and updates through its mailing list.
