About Craggy Mountain Line Railroad
Craggy Mountain Line is a historic railroad attraction in Buncombe County, North Carolina, offering open-air trolley rides that combine local railway history with scenic mountain and river views. Based in Asheville, the organization invites visitors to enjoy a seven-mile round trip along the line, including views of the French Broad River and a stop at Woodfin’s Silverline Park. Regular rides are offered on Thursdays and Saturdays, with departures at 4 p.m.; trips last about an hour and 25 minutes.
The railroad also hosts special and seasonal experiences, including its annual Jingle Bell Trolley ride, which features a short trip and a visit with Santa at the depot area. Its rides and gatherings are suited to families, birthday parties, picnics, and other group outings, and reservations can be made by phone. Craggy Mountain Line highlights its restored rail cars and rolling stock, including historic cabooses, and shares photographs, videos, maps, letters, and articles about Asheville’s railway past.
