About Craiglee Vineyard
Craiglee Vineyard, located in Sunbury, Victoria, has a rich history and a commitment to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of their site. The story of Craiglee dates back to 1863 when James Stewart Johnston, a prominent businessman, planted vines on the property. He built an impressive bluestone winery, using gravity to create an efficient wine-making system.
Over the years, Craiglee produced notable wines, including the award-winning 1872 Hermitage (Shiraz). After a period of closure, in 1976, Pat Carmody, inspired by the site's history and terroir, replanted vines on the original site and began making wine. Today, Pat, along with his wife Dianne, continues the family's winemaking legacy, producing outstanding cool-climate wines.
With a focus on sustainability and preserving the environment, Craiglee Vineyard utilizes solar power and implements practices that protect soil structure.
