Cranky Kraken Games is an independent tabletop game publisher founded by Ivo Neskovic, lead designer of Monsters on Board and a University of York lecturer. Drawing on a lifelong passion for tabletop games and industry experience as co-founder of Furious Avocado, the studio brings a player-first approach to its games. Its featured title, Monsters on Board, is a medium-weight strategy game for one to four players, with sessions lasting around 45 to 90 minutes.
In the game, players assemble a monster crew, move through the town of Startleton, frighten its residents, and compete to collect Prestige. Dice drafting, strategic planning, and linked actions create satisfying chain reactions, while modular setup offers a fresh mix of play each time. The refined second edition builds on the original with clearer rules, evolved gameplay, expanded modular content, and deeper combinations.
