Crayford Manor House Astronomical Society Dartford (CMHASD), established in 1961, is a vibrant community dedicated to making astronomy accessible to enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Unlike traditional astronomical societies, CMHASD hosts a professional lecture program, featuring expert speakers from esteemed institutions such as Jodrell Bank and the Royal Astronomical Society. Regular meetings occur every Thursday, providing members the chance to engage, observe, and learn.

The society offers a wealth of resources, including a library stocked with books and journals, as well as access to a range of telescopes and equipment. The recently opened Dick Chambers Sutton-at-Hone Observatory houses a 16” scientific-grade telescope, available for member use after proper training. CMHASD organizes numerous social and observing events, fostering a supportive environment with mentoring for newcomers.

As a charitable incorporated organization, CMHASD encourages public participation through various events while maintaining a strong social component, including post-meeting gatherings. Join this welcoming society to explore the wonders of the night sky!
