Crazylegs Classic is a renowned annual running event held in Madison, Wisconsin, each spring on the last Saturday of April. Established in 1982 by three dedicated Badger fans, this event began as a way to raise funds for UW Athletics and has evolved into a cherished tradition. Named in honor of legendary Athletic Director Elroy Hirsch, the first race attracted 1,525 runners and successfully raised $9,500.

Over the years, Crazylegs Classic has expanded to include a walking component, first introduced in 1987, further broadening its appeal. Today, the event regularly draws tens of thousands, with a record participation of over 20,000 in 2010, and has seen more than 354,000 participants since inception. The Crazylegs Classic not only promotes health and fitness but also serves as a vibrant community gathering, marking the onset of spring for both the university and the local residents.
