Create Happy Media is an innovation and creativity media outlet curated by teens for teens. We have over 55 writers, poets, photographers and artists who run and create Create Happy, along with mentor Mandi Lynn. Our magazine is all-inclusive, made for teens who are interested in innovation, creativity, photography and mindfulness & wellness. About Create Happy Media
Create Happy Media is a revolutionary youth-run digital media outlet in Aotearoa (New Zealand) that is changing the media landscape through compassionate journalism. Our team, comprised of young voices between the ages of 10 and 24, curates engaging content for our quarterly ninety-page digital magazine. We believe in amplifying diverse perspectives and addressing social issues while promoting positivity and inspiring change.
Our journey began when the mainstream media unjustly robbed rangatahi (youth) at Manurewa High School in South Auckland of credit for a viral dance video. Determined to tell their own stories, our students co-designed Click Happy, a well-being and photography program for youth. From there, Create Happy Media was born in March 2022, driven by a desire to address the lack of representation and youth voice in mainstream media.
Our collaborative effort is led by a dedicated team with diverse backgrounds in journalism, storytelling, content creation, and youth empowerment. With over 25 active young journalists and more than 150 published articles, we provide a platform for young writers to showcase their work. Looking ahead, our goals for the next 12 months include transitioning to a hybrid print and digital magazine, expanding our advertising reach, running the Fresh Voices tour to amplify marginalized voices, and growing our online presence through a blog.
