Creatures of Leisure is a brand that specializes in purpose-built surf gear. Established in 1987, the brand was created to support the surfing lifestyle and has been shaped by the coastal environment it calls home. Founder John Malloy embarked on a journey in 1972, leaving Los Angeles on a container ship to surf through the Pacific to West Oz.
It was in Yallingup that he discovered paradise, with uncrowded waves, a stunning coastline, and great friends. To earn a living, John started making surf leashes but quickly realized that inferior materials wouldn't withstand the raw waves of the South Indian Ocean. This drove him to introduce the first-ever urethane cord, creating a reliable connection between board and surfer.
The brand's commitment to innovation continued with the invention of a self-lubricating stainless steel swivel. Today, Creatures of Leisure is known for its rugged reliability and premium surf essentials, including board covers, traction pads, and tie-downs. Every design is thoroughly tested by the brand's staff and professional surfers in demanding locations around the world.
