About CREC
The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is an education-focused organization serving Greater Hartford, Connecticut. Since 1966, it has worked with member districts to develop cost-effective, high-quality programs and services that address the educational needs of children and adults. CREC’s work is guided by a commitment to excellence, equity, courage, and collaboration, with an emphasis on helping learners grow and thrive.
The organization offers a broad range of support for schools and districts, including literacy services and professional development and coaching in deaf education. CREC also operates schools, including the CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School, where a STEM-focused program encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Families can explore CREC schools and services, as well as Open Choice options through the organization’s school information resources. CREC also provides events, career opportunities, and support through the CREC Foundation. Its programs aim to foster strong educational experiences and positive outcomes across the region.
