Crescent Flare is an independent game and software development brand whose website preserves the story of its earlier projects and shares information about open-source app libraries. Its best-known title, Marblenauts, was a puzzle game first released for iOS in 2010 and later ported to Mac OS X. Players solved levels by changing the environment—breaking blocks, using mechanisms such as teleporters and conveyor belts, and guiding colorful creatures to matching transporters.
The game combined touch-friendly controls, pixel art, and music and sound effects created by audio specialist Mike Weiser. Although it gained visibility through Apple features and achieved modest commercial success, Marblenauts is no longer available: it was removed from the App Store as it became outdated, and much of its source code has been lost. Crescent Flare now keeps the project’s history online, including design and development notes, archived screenshots, and ideas and artwork for an unmade sequel.
The site also provides descriptions and links to several open-source app libraries, offering visitors a view of the brand’s wider software interests
