Cresta Alta Film

Cresta Alta is a climate-change documentary and community engagement project centered on the connections between glacier research, environmental impacts, and sustainability. The film follows filmmaker Todd Anders Johnson on scientific expeditions in Alaska, Iceland, Chile, and Peru, where researchers study glaciers and gather field data to better understand a changing climate. It also highlights regional sustainability efforts, including a project in Huaraz, Peru, that uses bioremediation to address heavy metals in river water associated with deglaciation.

Alongside the documentary, Cresta Alta offers a film tour featuring screenings at venues such as theaters, museums, colleges, and schools. Events include post-screening question-and-answer sessions and community sustainability panel discussions, bringing audiences together with local organizations and environmental advocates. The project aims to make climate science accessible and engaging while encouraging discussion about practical responses and the importance of continued research. Cresta Alta has also been scheduled for broadcast on several PBS stations. Through film, educational events, and community partnerships, it connects scientific findings with conversations about sustainability and resilience.
