Criadero San Luis

Criadero San Luis is an Ecuadorian breeding farm specializing in the Peruvian Paso horse. Its horse-breeding history began around 1962 with local criollo horses, followed by registered Thoroughbreds used for racing in Quito and Guayaquil. Inspired by the Peruvian Paso’s beauty, comfortable gait, and suitability for family outings, the farm later focused on this breed and its potential for riding across Ecuador’s varied landscapes.

San Luis selects bloodlines to develop its young horses and maintains breeding stallions and broodmares chosen for the qualities they can pass on to their offspring. Its horses include young stock, mares, stallions, and geldings, with selected animals offered for sale. The farm describes the Peruvian Paso as a naturally smooth, four-beat riding horse with stamina and a steady pace on rough terrain. Its geldings are presented as suitable for relaxed rides with friends and family.

The criadero also highlights its participation and recognition at regional and national competitions, including events in Quito, Cuenca, and Guayaquil.
