Crigela

The Italian Red Cross Committee of Gela is a local branch of the Italian Red Cross, part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It serves the community of Gela and includes territorial units in Riesi and Mazzarino. Guided by humanitarian principles, the committee works through volunteers and local partnerships to support people and strengthen community resilience.

Its activities cover health protection, social inclusion, preparedness for and response to disasters, and humanitarian cooperation. The committee also promotes volunteering and offers opportunities for young people through Universal Civil Service projects developed with the Italian Red Cross. Its community work has included supporting local health services, such as activating a testing station during the COVID-19 emergency in response to a request from the local health authority. The committee shares information about its initiatives, events, volunteer recruitment, and public notices, and provides access to organizational details and transparency information. Through these efforts, the Gela Committee connects humanitarian action with practical support for local residents, working to assist the community and encourage participation in service to others.
