About National Crime Research Centre
The National Crime Research Centre (NCRC) is a state corporation in Kenya, established by the National Crime Research Act of 1997 under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration. NCRC is dedicated to investigating the causes of crime and its prevention through comprehensive research, providing critical insights for government agencies and stakeholders involved in the criminal justice system.
NCRC's services encompass a wide range of research initiatives, including the examination of crime patterns across all 47 counties in Kenya, specialized studies on violence prevention, and policy briefs aimed at addressing emerging crimes such as domestic violence and organized criminal gangs. Their notable reports include the Annual Crime Year Book and focused studies on election-related offenses and police performance. By utilizing research findings, NCRC contributes to training programs for both state and non-state actors, fostering informed decision-making in crime prevention strategies. Through its efforts, NCRC aims to enhance public safety and support effective governance in Kenya.
