Crinabel is a Portuguese social solidarity cooperative based in Lisbon, dedicated to empowering, supporting and integrating people with intellectual disabilities and their families. With more than 40 years of experience, the organisation provides services designed to strengthen participation, independence and inclusion in community life.
Its Centre for Activities and Inclusion Capacity Building (CACI) helps people develop their abilities and expand opportunities for social and economic participation. Crinabel also operates a residential home for people with intellectual disabilities who lack family support because relatives are absent or unable to provide care. Through Crinabel DançaTeatro, the organisation promotes inclusive artistic creation and performance, bringing participants, families and communities together through movement and theatre.
Crinabel’s work is supported by staff, partnerships and contributions from the public. People can help through donations, voluntary involvement and the allocation of part of their income tax to the cooperative. The organisation also shares creative work and updates on its activities, including inclusive arts events and participation in Special Olympics sport competitions.
