Critical Resistance is an organization dedicated to dismantling the prison industrial complex and building an international movement for abolition. Through strong coalitions and grassroots campaigns, they fight against the practices and systems that harm and oppress communities. In their mission for change, they strive to shift resource allocation and practices away from punishment and control towards empowering communities and addressing root causes of harm.

As they dismantle and change, they also focus on building practices, skills, relationships, and resources that meet the needs of communities, from interpersonal to larger-scale levels. Critical Resistance offers various programs and resources, including The Abolitionist newspaper, which is distributed free of charge to incarcerated individuals throughout the US, and chapters in Los Angeles, New York, Oakland, and Portland.
