Volontari Croce Bianca Lumezzane is a volunteer-based public assistance association serving Lumezzane and the wider Lombardy region since 1974. Its work combines emergency response, healthcare support and community services, sustained by volunteers and financial contributions from supporters. The association provides free medical emergency and urgent response through Italy’s 112 system, as well as scheduled non-emergency medical transport and transport for people undergoing dialysis.

Other services include telesoccorso, which connects people needing assistance directly with the association, and support at social and sporting events. It also transports blood and blood products, delivers urgent medicines to people unable to collect them, and offers transport for people with disabilities. Medical equipment, including crutches, wheelchairs, beds and mattresses, is available on loan.

Training is central to the association’s work: its training centre offers courses for prospective volunteers and the wider community, taught by healthcare professionals, regional instructors and AREU personnel. The association also promotes safety initiatives, including Progetto Montagne Sicure and Lume Cardio Sicura, and welcomes community support through volunteering, donations and course participation
