About Scriptorium S.L.
Scriptorium is a Spanish publisher specializing in facsimile editions of illuminated manuscripts, with a particular focus on reproductions made on natural parchment. Its editions are crafted by hand, using traditional methods for preparing parchment, sewing pages, and binding books in natural leather over wooden boards. The company presents these works as a way to experience the beauty of medieval manuscripts while respecting historic bookmaking techniques.
One featured edition is The Abbreviated Chronicles of Jerusalem, a fifteenth-century Flemish manuscript commissioned by Philip the Good and now held at the Austrian National Library in Vienna. The facsimile reproduces its 156 illuminations and is accompanied by a study book in Spanish and English. The edition is limited to 290 numbered copies, with notarial certification and confirmation that natural parchment was used. Scriptorium also lists other parchment facsimiles, including the Beatus of Osma, Liber Genealogiae Regum Hispaniae, The Crusader Bible, and The Book of Games. Customers can request information about editions and subscribe to news about new releases and events.
