About CropStab
CropStab is a research database focused on protein stability in crops and Arabidopsis. It helps researchers identify proteins that may be less likely to fold reliably and explore sequence changes that could improve stability. The resource covers 1,425,716 proteins across 30 plant species, including cereals, legumes, oilseeds, fruit, vegetable, root and fibre crops.
Users can search by protein or gene identifier, description, or sequence; review a score and its six interpretable components; and compare proteins with orthologues across species. Its Engineering Atlas lists more than two million candidate substitutions found in more stable relatives, with sequence context and confidence information. The database also provides structural confidence or sequence-based disorder information, including residue-level AlphaFold references for many proteins, to help assess flexible regions.
CropStab offers browsing, analysis, visualization, and data downloads. Researchers can submit FASTA sequences for scoring and examine evidence supporting candidate changes. The resource reports validation against measured stability data and examples involving wheat Rubisco activase.
