About Cross River Gorilla
The Cross River Gorilla Programme is a leading initiative dedicated to protecting the Cross River gorilla, Africa's most endangered great ape. Operating in Cameroon since 2004, our collaborative efforts have resulted in the successful designation of several protected areas by the Government of Cameroon. Through activities such as habitat restoration, capacity development, and establishment of rainforest corridors, we strive to safeguard the habitats of these critically endangered primates and other threatened species in the region.
With fewer than 300 individuals left in the wild, our work focuses on conservation, monitoring, and training of local rangers and educators. Partnering with local communities and conservation organizations, we aim to preserve the unique ecosystem of this biodiversity hotspot.
