About Centre Régional "Résistance & Liberté"
The Centre Régional Résistance & Liberté (CRRL) is a history centre in Thouars, France, dedicated to exploring the Resistance and the fight for freedom. Located in the Écuries du château, it welcomes visitors to discover its exhibitions and educational resources. Its offer includes a permanent exhibition, temporary displays and exhibitions that can travel to other venues. Current programming features “Madeleine Riffaud, Résistante,” on view until September 2026, as well as an exhibition on Mānouches in Montreuil-Bellay.
The centre also provides learning activities and resources for schools, with programs for Cycle 3 pupils, middle and high school students, vocational and technical education, and extracurricular groups. It supports participation in the National Resistance and Deportation Competition and offers a documentation centre for research and learning. Tourist groups can find information to help plan a visit.
The CRRL is open Tuesday to Friday and on Sundays from 2:30 to 6 p.m. during its stated seasonal opening period, excluding public holidays.
