About C.R. Tequila
The Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT) is a nonprofit civil organization established in 1994 to support and protect the Agave-Tequila production chain. Its members and stakeholders include agave growers, tequila producers, bottlers, distributors, marketers, and government bodies. The CRT inspects, analyzes, and certifies compliance with Mexico’s Official Tequila Standard, helping safeguard the Tequila Denomination of Origin in Mexico and abroad and assure consumers of product authenticity.
Its services include inspection, certification, laboratory analysis, and agro-services. The organization also provides professional training and operates initiatives related to responsible agave production, social responsibility, and sustainability. Through its online search tools, visitors can consult registered tequila brands and producer companies, while its website also offers information about procedures, services, the Denomination of Origin, and tequila’s presence around the world.
The CRT shares industry news, statistics, and educational resources, and accepts reports concerning suspected violations of tequila regulations or service concerns. By combining oversight, certification, information, and professional development, it works to strengthen the tequila industry and preserve the integrity of the product.
