CryoTherapeutics has developed a novel, minimally invasive, catheter-based cryotherapy system (CTS) engineered to address an unmet need in cardiology: the treatment of coronary vulnerable plaque (VP), a leading cause of myocardial infarction (MI), that often leads to fatal events. CryoTherapeutics’ technology is designed to deliver localized cryotherapy to vulnerable plaques, cooling the plaques to temperatures between -10 to -20° C. The cryotherapy aims to stabilize the vulnerable plaques by reducing inflammation and increasing the fibrous cap thickness, hence lowering the risk of rupture and preventing future MI. Unlike traditional interventional technologies, this approach avoids implanting foreign materials or relying on long-term medical therapy alone. To date, no companies offer a similar solution specifically targeting the local stabilization of VP. Disclaimer: This is an investigational device, currently in clinical study, and not yet approved.

CryoTherapeutics is a medical technology company developing implant-free cryotherapy solutions intended to stabilize vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques and reduce the risk of heart attacks. Its approach is designed for use by interventional cardiologists and combines a console with a catheter featuring an intracoronary balloon.
During the procedure, the catheter is guided under X-ray until the balloon reaches the plaque targeted for treatment. The operator inflates the balloon and starts the cryotherapy process, while the console delivers a cooling agent through the catheter. This controlled system cools the solution inside the balloon to between -10°C and -20°C.
CryoTherapeutics’ catheter-based technology is designed to reduce plaque inflammation and increase the thickness of the fibrous cap, with the aim of lowering the chance of plaque rupture and future myocardial infarction. The company provides information about its clinical approach and technology, alongside company news and career opportunities. Its website also includes details on its team, ESG policy, and corporate terms and privacy information.
