The Chesapeake Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (CSAAPT) is a regional organization serving physics educators in Delaware, the District of Columbia area, Virginia, and Maryland. It is part of the national American Association of Physics Teachers and brings together teachers from high schools and universities of varying sizes. CSAAPT’s mission is to advance the teaching of physics, support the professional development of physics teachers at all levels, and encourage appreciation of physics in culture.
The section holds meetings twice a year at locations throughout the region. These gatherings focus on educational practices and ways to strengthen physics education and research, while giving members opportunities to share ideas and build connections within the wider physics community. Educators and others interested in the organization can join for annual dues of $15; first-year dues are waived for K–12 educators. Members and nonmembers may also request to join the section’s email list. CSAAPT provides information about its activities, officers, meetings, and membership, and welcomes questions from people interested in its work.
