The National Resource for Network Biology (NRNB) advances the study of biological networks by developing and supporting tools, visualizations, databases, and computing resources for biomedical research. Its open-source technologies help researchers assemble and analyze networks involving genes, proteins, drugs, cells, and other biological or social systems, and use them to investigate how biological systems function and fail in disease.

NRNB builds on the Cytoscape network analysis platform and supports its users through tutorials, workshops, a 24/7 help desk, and collaborative research and service projects. Its work includes methods for using molecular networks to classify cancer patients based on tumor mutations and for constructing gene ontologies from interaction data. NRNB also supports resources such as the Cytoscape App Store, which helps researchers find and install apps while giving developers a place to promote them. Other network analysis resources associated with its work include the Cancer Biology Portal, GeneMANIA, and the Cytoscape App Store. Through research, training, software development, and collaboration, NRNB equips biomedical researchers to explore complex biological data.
