Construction Skills Certification Scheme

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry. It supports safer, higher-standard worksites by providing cards that show an individual has the training and qualifications appropriate to their role. Workers can use CSCS’s online services or the My CSCS app to find the right card, apply, and manage their credentials.

CSCS offers cards for a wide range of occupations and experience levels, including skilled workers, labourers, apprentices, trainees, supervisors, managers, and academically or professionally qualified workers. Some cards are temporary or intended for specific pathways, and eligibility depends on relevant qualifications, experience, or apprenticeship status. Applicants generally need to pass the appropriate CITB Health, Safety and Environment test and provide supporting evidence.

The My CSCS app serves as a Digital Skills Passport, allowing users to store digital CSCS cards, qualifications, skills, and training. For employers and site operators, CSCS Smart Check provides secure card verification through an API, mobile app, and website, helping check compliance and tackle fraud.
