About CSD
The Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) is an internationally recognized body that supports and promotes the design profession, both in the UK and globally. With a history dating back to 1976, CSD holds a Royal Charter granted by HM Queen Elizabeth II, making it the sole authority to establish and maintain the Register of Chartered Designers and award the prestigious title of Chartered Designer. CSD is dedicated to championing professional design practice and provides a range of programs, initiatives, and guidance to support designers at every stage of their careers.
This includes resources such as the Find-a-Designer tool, which allows clients and organizations to connect with professional designers, as well as knowledge banks, CPD opportunities, and business support services. As a Registered Charity, CSD aims to benefit the wider public by upholding intellectual property rights and promoting excellence in design. They work closely with the UK Intellectual Property Office and hold Observer Status of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva.
