ČSE

The Czech Economic Society (ČSE) is a professional association for economists and others interested in the field. Its mission is to support the development and wider understanding of economics in the Czech Republic while respecting diverse viewpoints and the independent development of different schools of economic thought. The Society advances this mission through lectures, seminars, publications on economic topics and competitions for young economists. It also supports economics education in primary and secondary schools through initiatives such as Experts to Schools, and provides activities for teachers and speakers.

A major event in its programme is a biennial international scientific conference, featuring presentations across numerous sessions, a keynote lecture and award ceremonies. The Society presents the Young Economist award, the Kateřina Šmídková Prize and an award recognizing long-term contributions to the development of Czech economic thought. In alternate years, it holds a general assembly. ČSE also shares news, press releases and activity reports, and works with partner organizations, including through the Visegrad Group Partnership of Economic Associations.
