The French Scientific Committee on Desertification (CSFD) is dedicated to combating desertification and promoting sustainable land management in arid regions, particularly in the Saharan and Sahelian zones. Based in Montpellier, Occitanie, the CSFD focuses on a diverse array of critical issues, including ecological engineering, biodiversity preservation, and transboundary water resource management. The organization emphasizes the importance of women's rights and gender equality in addressing environmental challenges.
CSFD provides a wealth of resources, including thematic folders and publications that detail their research and findings. Their initiatives aim to raise awareness about the causes and impacts of desertification, linking it closely with climate change. By facilitating collaborations among scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders, the CSFD plays a pivotal role in fostering innovative solutions to restore degraded lands and enhance water conservation.
Join CSFD in their mission to create sustainable oasis-like environments and ensure the preservation of essential organic matter within ecosystems affected by desertification.
