Since 2003, Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) has worked in partnership with Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) on the frontline of wildlife conservation and human-wildlife conflict mitigation in the South Luangwa Valley. CSL works to protect the 1,400,000 hectares of largely intact wilderness in eastern Zambia that make up the South Luangwa National Park and the surrounding game management areas. CSL practises a multi-faceted approach to wildlife resource management and protection, working in collaboration with DNPW and alongside local partners and stakeholders in the Luangwa ecosystem to implement ground and helicopter patrols, aerial surveillance patrols, sniffer dog detection and tracking activities, wildlife rescues and community veterinary work, and human-wildlife coexistence community programmes.

About Conservation South Luangwa
Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) is a brand dedicated to the protection of wildlife and habitats in the South Luangwa ecosystem of Zambia. Since 2003, CSL has partnered with Zambia's Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) to address wildlife conservation and human-wildlife coexistence in the region. Their mission is to safeguard the 1,400,000 hectares of largely intact wilderness that make up the South Luangwa National Park and the surrounding game management areas.
The area is home to over 60 species of mammals and 450 species of birds, including unique species such as Crawshay's zebra, Cookson's wildebeest, and the Luangwa giraffe. CSL employs a multifaceted approach to wildlife resource management and protection. This includes anti-poaching foot patrols, aerial surveillance, sniffer dog detection, and direct community engagement.
They also conduct wildlife rescue and de-snaring operations, removing snares that pose a threat to the wildlife population. Additionally, CSL works to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts caused by increasing human population growth in the region. By preventing damage to crops and properties and promoting coexistence, they aim to foster a positive attitude towards wildlife and conservation.
To support their efforts, CSL organizes events such as the CSL Fun Run and the ZCP Carnivore Cup Final. They also provide resources like reports, newsletters, videos, and a photo gallery to raise awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation. Join Conservation South Luangwa in their mission to protect and preserve the South Luangwa ecosystem and contribute to the long-term survival of wildlife and habitats in the region
