The Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants (CSMD) is a hereditary society and member organization of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. Established in 1980, it was the first member society formed outside the United States. CSMD welcomes people who can document a direct bloodline descent from a passenger aboard the Mayflower, which arrived in Plimoth, New England, in 1620.
The society supports prospective members through application guidance, membership information, fee details, and a First Contact Assistant. Its resources include genealogical research guidance, with examples of primary evidence such as vital, church, probate, military, and census records, as well as secondary sources including family histories, obituaries, and gravestone photographs. CSMD also shares society news, publishes a newsletter, maintains a photo gallery, and provides links to related Mayflower organizations and research websites.
Through its colonies, the society hosts conferences, annual general meetings, and other gatherings. Its website also offers information about governance, including the board, constitution, and bylaws, and provides contact details for questions.
