Skupina JARO

ČSOP Severní Čechy is a regional branch of the Czech Union for Nature Conservation, established informally in 2014 as part of the JARO conservation group. The organization works to protect valuable natural areas through practical habitat management, environmental education, and wildlife and plant monitoring. Its fieldwork includes mowing meadows, removing overgrowth, and creating ponds for amphibians, alongside surveys that help guide future conservation.

Based mainly in northern Bohemia, the group works across Podještědí and surrounding areas, including the Jizera Mountains, Bohemian Paradise, the Česká Lípa region, and the Bohemian Central Highlands. It also supports conservation activities in the Krkonoše Mountains and, since 2019, has cooperated with partners in Austria’s Tyrol region. Since 2020, it has arranged grazing by Exmoor ponies in Baroch Nature Reserve and supports efforts to return large herbivores to the landscape. Its educational services include talks for schools, businesses, universities, and the public. The organization also contributes to a campaign to protect black grouse in the Krkonoše.
