About CSPM
CSPM, also known as the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, is embarking on a historic project with an investment of $6. 2 million. This eight-month-long endeavor aims to install a cutting-edge HVAC system.
While the 1903 El Paso County Courthouse, where the museum is housed, will be temporarily closed to the public, a CSPM Annex will open at the Plaza of the Rockies. This annex will feature brand-new exhibits, including Black Wings: Americans Dream of Flight in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibitions and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. Additionally, the museum plans to create a new exhibition gallery, renovate an existing gallery, and build a collections processing and exhibit preparation workspace that will be open to the public.
Even during this time, the CSPM will continue to offer dynamic programming such as Family Fun Days, History Strolls, and Lecture Series. Volunteers play a crucial role in the museum's mission, and although artifact and archival donations will be paused, the community can still enjoy events at Alamo Square Park. Overall, this transformative project will enhance the preservation and sharing of Pikes Peak regional history
