The Community Social Services Health and Safety Association of BC (CSSHSA) supports safer, healthier workplaces across British Columbia’s community social services sector. Established in 2022, the association serves more than 2,100 member organizations and provides employers and employees, in unionized and non-unionized workplaces, with health and safety information, education, resources, and practical support.
CSSHSA’s offerings include training, online courses, events, webinars, and a learning centre, as well as guidance on occupational health and safety topics such as first aid, joint health and safety committees, violence prevention, and workplace inspections. Its programs also address psychological health and safety, mental health, and workplace well-being. The association supports organizations working through the Certificate of Recognition (COR) process and offers related resources, including a program builder. Additional initiatives include People Working Well, Care to Speak, BounceBack, and a Mobile Response Team.
Through sector partnerships and community engagement, CSSHSA promotes prevention and continuous improvement. Its approach is grounded in commitments to reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural safety, helping foster supportive workplaces for staff and the communities they serve.
