The Bucharest Blood Transfusion Centre (CTSMB) is Romania’s largest blood transfusion centre, serving hospitals across Bucharest. It collects, tests, processes, stores and distributes blood and blood components to more than 50 hospitals, with the goals of meeting hospitals’ daily needs and providing safe, high-quality blood products. Its work supports both donors and patients, guided by careful donor selection and checks intended to protect the health of donors and recipients.

It also reports introducing a pooled, leukocyte-depleted platelet concentrate as a new blood component. Established as a municipal centre in 1995, CTSMB operates within Romania’s regulated transfusion system, under the authority of the Ministry of Health and in coordination with national transfusion institutions.
