CT生物図鑑

CT Bio Encyclopedia is a project by JMC Corporation that uses computed tomography to reveal the hidden internal structures of animals. Its online collection turns CT scan data into interactive 3D models that visitors can rotate through 360 degrees, alongside cross-sectional images that offer a closer look inside each specimen. Some models are also available to download in STL format.

The growing catalogue spans a wide range of vertebrates and invertebrates, including fish, birds, mammals, insects, and fossils. Featured specimens include Japanese eels, hammerhead sharks, stag beetles, cicadas, and ammonites. The site also introduces the basics of CT scanning, explains how the technology is applied to biological specimens, and discusses what CT can and cannot show. Its aim is to make nature’s unseen details accessible and encourage new ideas for design and manufacturing inspired by biological structures. JMC also shares CT data for educational and public-facing projects, including exhibitions and media, helping audiences explore living things from a perspective beyond ordinary observation.
