CTT (Cryostat and Detector Technique Thomas) is a specialist company founded in April 1999 as a spin-off from the University of Cologne. Initially based in Cologne, the company moved to Montabaur in 2001. CTT plans, develops and manufactures cryostats designed to operate highly segmented, high-resolution high-purity germanium detectors used in fundamental research.
Its work supports scientific institutions and researchers who require precise detector-cooling equipment for advanced experiments. Close collaboration with physicists and commissioning organizations is central to many of its projects, allowing equipment to be developed in response to specific research needs. The company’s founder and owner, Dr.
Heinz-Georg Thomas, earned his doctorate at the University of Cologne for research on developing a germanium cluster detector for the EUROBALL gamma-ray spectrometer. CTT’s website highlights gamma spectroscopy and projects including AGATA and MINIBALL, reflecting its involvement in detector technology for nuclear physics research. The company also shares project references and information for the scientific community
