Contact Trust Youth Association (CTYA) is a prominent Zambian NGO dedicated to empowering young people and promoting sustainable human development, while striving to eradicate all forms of marginalization. We firmly believe in fostering non-partisan collaboration with various organizations on matters pertaining to youth development. At CTYA, we place great importance on strengthening the capacities of young individuals in our operational areas.

This includes advocating for changes to laws, policies, practices, and behaviors that hinder their social, economic, cultural, and civil rights. Our organization upholds a set of core values that drive our work. These values include the recognition of sexual and reproductive rights as fundamental human rights, a commitment to gender equality, and the active participation of marginalized communities and individuals with disabilities or living with HIV in our programs.

CTYA takes pride in its dedication to working in partnership with stakeholders including communities, governments, organizations, and donors. We are also actively committed to the protection of the environment and the future leadership development of African youth. Our work focuses on addressing critical reproductive health issues faced by young people in Zambia.

For instance, we actively tackle the prevalent issue of teenage pregnancy, which affects 29% of young women aged 15-19 in the country. Additionally, we strive to provide accessible family planning services and combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic through our comprehensive interventions. Despite the challenges posed by limited services and policy implementation, CTYA continues to expand its reach and expertise.

We aim to bridge the gaps in healthcare access and support adolescents in their reproductive health needs within the cultural and societal norms of Zambia. Contact Trust Youth Association operates in Southern, Lusaka, and Western Province, which are our target regions for implementation. We employ a holistic approach to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), recognizing that it is crucial for universal health coverage.

By utilizing systems thinking, co-production, and meaningful youth engagement, we are able to address health system challenges and empower young people to play an active role in their own development.
