Cuberg develops next-generation battery solutions for demanding electric mobility applications, including aviation and other high-performance uses. Founded in 2015 to commercialize lithium-metal cell technology, the company was acquired by Northvolt in 2021. In August 2024, Northvolt announced plans to integrate Cuberg’s lithium-metal technology into Northvolt Labs in Sweden.

Cuberg combines lithium-metal anodes with a proprietary liquid electrolyte to create batteries designed for high performance while addressing manufacturability and scale. Its offerings include cells, modules, and vertically integrated battery systems that make use of the technology’s capabilities. The products are designed to work with established lithium-ion manufacturing value chains, supporting a practical path to production.

Designed in California and made in North America, Cuberg’s lightweight battery systems target mobility applications where weight and performance matter. The company states that its aviation solutions can double electric flight range compared with a typical lithium-ion solution. By developing battery technology intended to balance performance, safety, and scalable manufacturing, Cuberg aims to support the electrification of demanding forms of transportation.
