About Center for Urban Community Services
Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) is a New York City-based organization that helps people experiencing homelessness and other challenges achieve lasting stability. For nearly 50 years, it has delivered integrated housing, healthcare, and social support rooted in dignity, trust, and human connection. Its relationship-centered approach meets people where they are, responds to immediate crises, and creates pathways toward long-term independence.
CUCS’s services include housing resources and programs, street outreach, and CUCS Connects, as well as career support through its Career Network. Healthcare offerings include Janian Medical Care and street psychiatry; the organization also provides wellness training. Through outreach, staff connect unsheltered people with essential resources, including support during extreme weather. CUCS shares impact stories and publications that highlight journeys from homelessness to stable housing. Drawing on proven experience and innovative approaches to care, CUCS works alongside public and nonprofit partners to strengthen how New York City addresses homelessness, mental health needs, and systemic inequities.
