About CarletonU InSpace
CU InSpace is Carleton University's Rocket Engineering Design Team. Comprised of Carleton University students, our team's objective is to design, build, and launch high-power rockets. We actively participate in prestigious competitions such as the Spaceport America Cup Rocketry Competition and the Launch Canada Rocketry Competition. Founded in 2014 by Will Zoratto, we have successfully launched five rockets at the Spaceport America Cup Rocketry Competition in New Mexico.
Our team structure consists of five engineering subteams and an admin team. The subteams include Aerostructures, Avionics, Payload, Propulsion, and Recovery. Each subteam has dedicated leads overseeing their respective responsibilities. The Aerostructures team focuses on designing and testing the rocket's airframe and structural components. Avionics takes charge of the telemetry systems, tracking the rocket's status and controlling the recovery process. The Payload team develops satellite hardware for release, while the Recovery team designs and tests the parachute and release mechanisms. Lastly, the Propulsion subteam selects and handles the rocket's motor.
