Cullybackey and District Historical Society is a community organisation dedicated to exploring and celebrating the history and heritage of Cullybackey and its surrounding townlands in Northern Ireland. The village, whose name refers to the angle or corner of a river bend, developed beside the River Maine, which once powered local linen mills. The Society shares the area’s social, economic and industrial stories, as well as its connections to notable people, historic buildings, churches, education and local traditions.
Its website provides information on people, townlands, churches, education, births, deaths and marriages, and the Society’s historical topics, alongside a gallery and archive-related resources. Visitors can learn about landmarks such as Arthur Cottage and Cuningham Memorial Presbyterian Church, and discover local artists, writers and other figures. The Society also publishes news and information about its programme and monthly meetings, which take place in the village British Legion Hall, and invites people to become members.
