Cultivate is an EU-funded project dedicated to promoting sustainable and resilient food sharing initiatives (FSIs) in urban and peri-urban areas. Their goal is to increase awareness and knowledge of FSIs, understand the factors that drive or hinder their practice, and foster sustainability and inclusion in food systems. Cultivate has developed the Food Sharing Compass, an online platform that serves as a social innovation support system.

This platform provides tools for FSIs, policy makers, researchers, food supply actors, and citizens to navigate food sharing landscapes, understand, develop, replicate, scale out, and strengthen food sharing efforts. By creating more sustainable, resilient, and healthy urban and peri-urban food systems, Cultivate actively supports the EU's climate mitigation and adaptation goals. The project has hub locations in Milan, Utrecht, and Barcelona, and plans to replicate its tools in six spoke locations across the EU.
