**COURAGE: Connecting Cultural Opposition Collections**
COURAGE is a pioneering initiative dedicated to exploring and preserving the diverse cultural heritage of dissent in Eastern European socialist countries. This international academic project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program, emphasizes the vibrant alternative cultural scenes that thrived despite the constraints of communist regimes. COURAGE aims to construct a comprehensive online database, uniting scattered collections that document the history of cultural opposition, including avant-garde art, dissident movements, underground music, and more.
Through various innovative activities, COURAGE promotes education and awareness by offering resources such as a handbook, online exhibitions, and training for stakeholders.
