CUPID PROJECT is a research initiative aiming to improve cancer prevention understanding among individuals with intellectual disabilities in the European Union and beyond. The project addresses the significant gap in cancer prevention knowledge within this population, where diagnoses often occur due to behavioral distress or physical changes, leading to premature deaths compared to the general population. By establishing a research agenda, CUPID collaborates with various stakeholders to address external and internal factors influencing healthcare engagement, such as diagnostic overshadowing and communication challenges.

Through research coordination and capacity building, the project aims to create a sustainable network of researchers, develop research agendas, and promote collaborative funding applications. CUPID's deliverables include evaluating the inclusiveness of cancer prevention programs, developing a knowledge base for EU policy standards, and organizing training schools and scientific exchanges.
