Cura-et-Certitudo

Stichting Cura et Certitudo is an independent Dutch foundation established in 1995 to help people set aside money for funeral expenses. Its name means “care and certainty,” reflecting its focus on providing a secure way to arrange the financial side of a funeral. Based in Alphen aan den Rijn, the foundation operates separately from funeral companies, so deposited funds are not dependent on an individual funeral provider.

Cura et Certitudo manages deposits and invests the funds with as little risk as possible, using a very defensive savings and investment profile. Deposits cannot be reclaimed during the term and may be paid out only to cover funeral costs. This arrangement is intended to ensure that money reserved for a funeral remains dedicated to that purpose.

The foundation is governed by a board comprising a chair, treasurer, and board member, with its secretariat handled by Jolanda Donkersloot Secretaresse Services. It also directs bereaved families to the Dutch government’s overview of practical matters to arrange after a death.
