Curapipe

Curapipe Systems develops trenchless technologies for repairing leaks and cracks in water mains and pipelines. Its flagship solution, TALR (Trenchless Automated Leakage Repair), uses the existing water network to deliver curing substances to leaking sections, avoiding the need to excavate streets or locate and repair each leak individually.

In the TALR process, a train of curing material held between two pipeline devices is introduced through an upstream fire hydrant. The material detects leaks and automatically seals them as it moves through the pipe, then exits through a downstream hydrant. Curapipe says the system can reduce water loss by up to 75%, with potential savings of tens of millions of liters of drinking water per utility each day. By working without digging, TALR can also avoid traffic and pedestrian delays and flooding. The company presents the solution as a lower-cost alternative to traditional “find-and-fix” methods, with potential energy savings from reduced bulk leakage.
